Don't be That Guy

Barbody The most common gym lurker. As the name implies, this guy works on muscles to show off at the bar, with purpose of impressing chicks or intimidating pencil necks. Usually, it's a young guy between 15-25 years old, who's at the gym working on every upper body muscle he can see from the front. The routine consists of endless curls, bench presses, pushdowns and seated presses. Once in a while, you see him throw in a few lat pulldowns and crunches just for fun. Chat Boy This type of guy is rare, but you don't want to run into him. Chat boy wants to discuss lifting, eating, or life in general with you, often in great detail. Now, I have nothing against conversation, especially workout talk, but chat boy doesn't know when to stop and turns a one-hour workout into two. The Sharp Dressed Man Believe me, not every girl is going crazy for this guy. I've seen him many times, and I still don't get it. His lifting attire consists of a T-shirt, dress pants, and loafer...

Megan Fox Asked to Gain Weight?

In a recent issue of Us Weekly, it was reported that Megan Fox was "ordered by her director to pack on 10 or more pounds." She said "I'd lost a lot of weight and got really scrawny, but I was told I had to put on a size." Apparently in order to be in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, she needs to look more muscular. So the actress has put herself on a diet of sweets (including red velvet cake), and she's also eating later oat night to help her gain weight. To bulk her muscles up, her man Brian Austin Green is acting as her trainer, making her do "man workouts" including push-ups, dips, and pull-ups. Now she boasts that she's really strong. Good for her. I am all for seeing a curvier, stronger woman on screen. I think it'll help send a more positive message to young women that super-skinny is out. So.. still worrying about your weight? Stop worrying, Start Exercise!!! source:http://www.wireimage.com/

Lauren Conrad Hates Sit Ups, But Loves Kickboxing

We already know that LC is into healthy living, but thanks to this interview we learned her true feelings for both sit ups and push ups. PopSugar: Pick a favorite: sit ups or push ups? LC: I hate them both! But probably sit-ups. PopSugar: So we see you going to the gym a lot . . . LC: Yeah I started again, it's really hurting me! PopSugar: What is your routine at the gym? LC: I just started doing more kickboxing which is really fun, and the way [my trainer] does it it's like a full body workout. Like squat, lunge, squat, lunge, or lower punches. It’s really like a full body workout, but I do a half hour of kickboxing and then he has me just do weights. We also do running most days and Chloe (LC's pooch) likes it. source: fitsugar

Train Your Brain

Exercise isn't just for stronger muscles—it can also sharpen your brain. A new study published in the journal Neurology examined the effects of exercise on brain deterioration of Alzheimer's patients. The researchers found physically fit patients with mild cognitive impairment had less brain shrinkage than those who weren't as fit. Previous studies showed exercise improves thinking and memory, in people with normal brain activity, by boosting blood flow and elevating growth hormones, the scientists said. The new findings extend this connection to people with Alzheimer's. So add a better brain to the long list of exercise's tangential health benefits. Breaking a sweat can also strengthen your heart, help prevent cancer, and disease-proof your body, to name a few. Start to bullet-proof your body today with our weekend warrior training plan.
